Rector Jaroslav Miller thanked three dozen of scientific staff at Palacký University for their work on technology transfer and Proof-of-Concept projects.
The award was part of the Technology Transfer Champion Dinner held this week in Olomouc.
“The technology transfer of the results of your university you are participating in is the essence of the third role of the university. I appreciate your work beyond the educational and research roles. Nowadays, it is not easy to succeed with innovation at the market. The process takes a long time and carries enormous risks. But it is the only way to make scientific results of our university universally available, “said rector Jaroslav Miller, at the gala dinner.
Many important scientific ideas do not reach the market because they are judged from a much wider perspective than scientific excellence. It must not be too expensive, it must be protected against misuse. The society must understand their benefits and buy them. For every product on the market there is also a huge competition that must be defeated.
“That’s why Proof-of-Concept projects are a good first step on the way to the practical application of output. Already submitting a project application demonstrates the courage to put idea into practice, “said Filip Auinger, a business development manager, from the organizing Science and Technology Park UP (STP UP).
Proof-of-Concept projects support scientific activities leading to commercial use. In addition to financial support, an individual marketing plan, and technology transfer consultations, researchers will have the opportunity to do what they are interested in. The Science and Technology Park announced a continuous application call fo Proof-of-Concept projecst. See HERE for details.
